HISTORY
The Automotive Technology Program was established in 2002. Since 2011, the Department of Motor Vehicles and Transportation Technologies has continued to provide education as the Automotive Technology Program. The program's vision is to continuously renew its educational activities, which it has been carrying out since 2002, according to the needs of the field, ensuring that its graduates are trained in accordance with the quality and philosophy expected by the sector, both in production and after-sales service levels. The mission undertaken by the Automotive Technology Program is to provide intermediate personnel training in line with the needs of the production and after-sales service sectors and to serve as an educational program that bridges the gap in this direction.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES / EMPLOYMENT AREAS
Automotive technicians hold positions with titles and responsibilities equivalent to those of technicians at virtually all levels of primary and secondary automotive manufacturing plants. Automotive technicians serve as technical personnel in production, after-sales service units, and vehicle inspection stations. In these units, they take on responsibilities and duties in many areas, ranging from group leadership and service management to sales group leadership, spare parts, service workshop management, and personnel training.
DEGREE EARNED
Students who successfully complete this program receive an Associate Degree in Automotive Technology.
ACCEPTING AND REGISTRATION CONDITIONS
Students are admitted to the Automotive Technology Program at Balıkesir University through a central exam administered by the Measurement, Selection, and Placement Center (ÖSYM). The department accepts students based on their TYT score type and offers a two-year associate degree program.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS AND RULES
In order for a student to graduate from the Automotive Technology program, they must have a minimum GPA (transcript) of 2.00 out of 4.00, successfully complete the compulsory courses included in the education and training program, successfully complete other work required by the program, complete a total credit load of 120 ECTS, and have their graduation approved by the relevant administrative board.
EXAMS ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION
Each student must register for courses at the beginning of the semester and must have attended at least 70% of the classes in order to take the final exam. Students are required to take at least one midterm exam and at least one final exam for each course. All exams are graded out of 100, with the midterm exam accounting for 40% and the final exam accounting for 60% of the final grade. Students must score at least 50 points on the final exam and achieve an average of at least 45 points. The final grade is converted to a letter grade according to the table. Students who receive one of the letter grades AA, BA, BB, CB, or CC in a course are considered to have passed that course. DC and DD grades are conditional passing grades. Courses in which an FF letter grade is received and the student is considered to have failed must be retaken in the first semester they are offered.
ASSOCIATE DEGREE PROGRAMS WHERE INTERDEPARTMENTAL TRANSFER IS POSSIBLE

Students wishing to transfer horizontally using the central placement base score (Appendix-1) must have a central (YKS) placement score from the year they enrolled that is equal to or higher than the base score for the programs they wish to transfer to at our University, and they must not have previously benefited from this right. The procedures and principles regarding the processes to be carried out are regulated on the relevant website.
UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS THAT CAN BE TRANSFERRED VERTICALLY FROM THE DEPARTMENT
Graduates who wish to continue their education have the opportunity to transfer to four-year undergraduate programs at various universities based on the scores they receive in the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center and the availability of places. Graduates can transfer to the Automotive, Mechanical, and Industrial Engineering Departments of Engineering Faculties, Technology Faculties, and Technical Education Faculties through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS).
